The crystal clear, cobalt blue sea with its beautiful beaches and bays invites you to swim from April to the beginning of November.
Fine sandy and gently sloping beaches ideal for families can be found, for example, at Paestum, Acciaroli, Marina di Ascea, in Palinuro and in its surroundings, at and around Marina di Camerota as well as at Villammare.

… and fantastic bathing bays
Scario attracts you with bathing bays accessible only by boat. Shimmering in shades of turquoise and fantastically clear – that is what the water is like along the coast from Scario towards Porto Infreschi and further on towards Marina di Camerota. At and around Scario, you will find shingle beaches which are within walking distance of the village centre.
Maratea is considered one of the last bathing paradises of Italy. Beautiful sandy and shingle beaches as well as small dreamy bays along the cliff line invite you to take a sunbath and a swim. A distinctive feature of the Costa di Maratea are its black lava beaches, e.g. at Maratea Cersuta. Particularly beautiful shingle beaches are to be found near Marina di Maratea. Castrocucco and its kilometres of sandy beach are the southern end of this scenically breathtaking coastal area.
During season, there are various places where pedal and sailing boats, surf boards, deck chairs and sun shades can be rented. Except for the Italian holiday months of July and August, you have got the coast almost to yourself!
