At the seaside between Acciaroli and Ascea, in the middle of the Cilento National Park, lies the small, picturesque bathing resort of Pioppi. Old mansions, a beautiful piazza, cosy cafés and pizzerias invite you to linger.
Those who want to get to know typical Cilento cuisine are in the right place here. The origin of the famous “Dieta Mediterranea”, which fascinated the American dietician Acel Keys in the 1960s, lies in this area.

At the “Museo del Mare”, the various maritime ecosystems of the Cilento coast are presented in several aquaria. You will also find illustrations of the area’s traditional methods of fishing,
alici di menaica. The display façade facing the sea is particularly worth seeing. The museum’s exterior façade, however, is impressive, too – it is to be found in stately Palazzo Vinciprova dating from the 17th century.

On summer evenings from the end of July to the end of August, you can attend „Pioppi di Scena“. Contemporary theatre performances take place in front of Palazzo Vinciprova,
The beaches of Pioppi and
Acciaroli have repeatedly been awarded the
bandiera blu for high quality water.
However, you can also enjoy the sea while walking along the promenade lined by palm trees.
