Recommended horseback tours
A few recommendations for horesback tours around Marina di Camerota, in the southern Cilento area:
- The Tragara, the Path of Robbers: from San Severino across an old railroad bridge to the small settlement of Poderia; from there uphill to the 6 km long plateau of Monte Bulgheria (1,225 m). Here, a WWF station is being built at the moment. Splendid panorama view to the Gulf of Policastro in the south and the Amalfi Coast in the north, in the background the mountain world of Monte Cervati.
- Into the valley of the Marcellino river: from Marina di Camerota southbound over hills with olive and chestnut trees, passing small farms, into the untouched, narrow and very green valley of the Marcellino river. At its end you reach a sandy beach, which otherwise is only accessible by boat.
- A popular destination for horseback riders: Monte Bulgheria.
- Altitude path to Palinuro: from Marina di Camerota northbound to the Chapel of San Antonio (432 m). From there further on upon a pleasant altitude path, always the sea within sight, to Palinuro.
- Gola del diavolo, the Devil’s Gorge: from Palinuro through the natural valley of the Mingardo river and the Devil’s Gorge to medieval San Severino on a hilltop.
