The river, which flows from the green hills around Pisciotta (Cilento, Southern Italy) into the valley, used to be the driving power of the water mill A’Machina until the 1930ies… then the mill wheels stood still for decades. Now the energetic owner Sonia D’Amato provides for new liveliness in the former mill after its recently finished total renovation.
With taste and a keen sense for this piece of Southern Italian cultural history, she has restored the structure from the early 18th century and now welcomes her guests in the elegant-rural country hotel.
A splendid view upon the sea, the medieval centre of the mountain village of Pisciotta and the green olive groves is offered from the country hotel A’Machina.
At the large pool, you can enjoy a sunbath and a refreshing swim.
The old town of Pisciotta with its café bars, restaurants and small stores is reached within about 300 m already.
From the village, a footpath of about 1 km leads to the beach (shingle) of Marina di Pisciotta, also accessible by car after about 3 km.
The ten guest rooms of the country hotel are furnished high-class. Some rooms provide space for up to four guests. Solid wooden furniture creates an atmosphere, central heating offers comfortable warmth even in cooler months.
The bathrooms with shower or bath tub/bidet/WC are new, well-tended and are kept in friendly, Mediterranean colours.
The room we have chosen for you is laid out very generously and thus offers space for a possible third person (additional bed). Due to the large paned doors opening to a French balcony with lateral sea view, the room appears bright and airy. Your bathroom is equipped with shower/bidet/WC.

The owner Sonia D’Amato feels obliged to the tradition of the village. The dining hall with its beautiful arches is designed in earthy, friendly colours. Its precious parquet floor is made from local olive lumbers, the old mill wheels are smartly arranged in the room.
Alternatively, guests may have breakfast on the spacious sea-view terrace, from which you also have a wonderful view upon the “centro storico” of Pisciotta.
You may park your car on the property of the country hotel.
Let yourself be seduced by creamy cappuccino, homemade “dolci”, fruit juices “fatti in casa”, delicious cheese and aromatic ham from the region. In the country hotel A’Machina you may also dine upon request.

Almost all the products served are home-grown and of organic cultivation and they are Bioagricert-certified. The certificate is a guarantee for organic cultivation, even more than is required by law.

Prices are given in Euro and are valid per person per day in a double room (DR) with bed & breakfast (B&B) .
Half board may be booked upon request on the spot (26 Euro surcharge per person and day). Surcharge for the traditional dinner on New Year’s Eve and Ferragosto (August 15th): 26 Euro per person.
Surcharge for occupancy of a double room as a single room: 35%.
Discount for children sleeping in their parents’ room: 0-2 years 80%, 3-12 years 50%, above 12 years 20%.
The minimum stay usually is 3 days.
