The estate Le Favate was erected as early as the beginning of the 17th century on a historic, 3000 years old salt road which reaches the Tyrrhenian Sea at 5 km from Velia.
Several loopholes in Le Favate bear witness to a great number of armed conflicts, in the course of which the estate has wondrously never been destroyed.So, after a longstanding and costly refurbishment, its guests can enjoy its whole splendour.
Embedded in a lush green valley the estate covers a total of 5000 sqm - a vast space for more than 10,000 olive trees, vineyards and vegetable gardens, as well as for the livestock husbandry of cows, chicken, goats, turkeys and pigs.
Le Favate is a paradise for children and adults, who wish to endulge in the authentic rural live of Southern Italy. The owners - who feel obliged to keep up old traditions - will gladly show you how they run their estate.
The estate incorporates a main building, an outbuilding, the apartment house Il Casone and an oil mill from the 17th century on the River La Fiumarella. A private chapel, a living and dining hall, an exterior terrace with view of the sea and guest rooms on the upper floor are located in the main building.
Additional guest rooms are situated in the outbuilding.
The 14 guest rooms are generously, stylishly and comfortably equipped. The furniture is hand-made. A fireplace or terracotta oven, a satellite TV, telephone and bathtub or shower with hydro massage are standard in all rooms.
In the main building a washing machine is available for a small fee.
The cuisine of the estate will please you with delicious specialities from the Cilento - most of the them originate from their own resp. from local production.
For the purpose of relaxation you will find an fitness room with sauna and an outdoor swimming pool. Upon request, the owners will provide you with umbrellas for your beach days for free.
Enjoy the advantages of a holiday in the green: The olive groves have seen many centuries - a stroll through them down to the river is really worthwile! Hikers will be impressed by the splendid panoramic view from the surrounding mountains.
Only a stone´s throw away is to be found some of the culture of the Magna Graecia. Velia - famous due to its philosophers´ school in the 6th century BC - is omnipresent at the mouth of the valley facing the sea.
The sandy beach of Marina di Ascea is 7 km long and is only 5 km away if you take the partly metal, partly tarred road, or 10 km, if you prefer a throughout tarred road.
