Cilento, Southern Italy: Country estates - Palinuro

: On the farm there are a lot of animals, too…

At the famous Cape of Palinuro, where the Lambro river winds towards the sea, lies the country estate Isca delle Donne. It was named after this scenically lovely spot.

Vincenzo has realized here a long-cherished dream of rural life at the sea for his family: Only 1 km from the sandy beach Marinella, he lives with his family and various animals on a charming 3 hectare property, on which wine, vegetables and fruit are also grown. He lets others take part of country life by running a Cilentanian restaurant, by offering his home-grown products in a little shop and by inviting you you to make holidays at his country estate.

Thus you can stroll around freely on the entire property, visit the animals in their stables and on their pastures and watch the production of e.g. bread and cheese. There is a playground for children, as well.

In the main structure lives the owner's family and there is also a restaurant. Mainly with self-made products, lunch and dinner is prepared good old Cilentanian-style.

In the stables and on the fields live the numerous animals: Horses, cows, a donkey, goats, sheep, wild boars, geese, chicken, rabbits and dogs.

In the farming building there is the little shop for the self-made products: red wine, olive oil, ham, vegetables in olive oil, marmalades, limoncello, pastry and many more.

In a side room e.g. the Cilentanian cheese Caciocavallo is produced. Bread is baked on a wood fire in the oven.

On the spacious property two tasteful wooden bungalows (single and double bungalow) with 3 apartments have also been built ( see also our picture gallery). Separated from the other buildings by an avenue of lemon trees and vegetable fields, they lie amidst fruit trees at a small pond.

The interior of the apartments is furnished lovingly with light wooden furniture: the kitchen-cum-living room, the double bedroom and the bedroom with two single beds. The bathroom is equipped with shower and WC.

On the porch you may have your meals or relax on a sun bed. Behind the houses there is an outdoor shower.

All apartments are equipped with TV, radio and air condition, which serves as heating during colder months. A washing machine is available for collective use.

The path to the beach (see above), leading along the Lambro river and olive groves, is a nice leisurely walk. The next supermarket is about 500 m, the centre of Palinuro about 1.5 km from the estate.
